Leukemia has hit the Trojan family in the past year, with former player Kenechi Udeze fighting the disease and former head coach Larry Smith dying of the sickness in January.

Now you have the chance to help fight the battle through the USC vs. UCLA Bone Marrow Challenge. Come to Alumni Park on Nov. 5-7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to register your bone marrow and help those struck with leukemia.

NOTE: The Nov. 5-7 drive on campus doesn't actually take bone marrow (like a blood drive) but instead allows you to add your name to a registry of potential donors by giving a cheek cell swab.

"Even though I am a OREGON fan, I can say that I am glad this is that something like this is happening. I give props to both schools. Even though they are rivals, they find a purpose that is bigger than them and come together. That is a classy thing that all rivals should look at and take notice that there are bigger things in life. Good job by the staffs of both schools."

"That is sweet! I am glad two respective schools can use their love for each other as a way to get donors. People who need these transplants suffer from one of the most painful diseases in exsistence so I am glad someone is taking notice. Great job to both coaches! LIFE not football is primary."

Bruins, Trojans take on ultimate challenge
